The Origin of a Negroni
The usual account places it in Florence around 1919. Count Camillo Negroni is said to have asked for an Americano made with gin instead of soda water, and the bar built equal parts of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth. That story is the one most often repeated. An orange peel, twisted over the top, is the classic finish.
